Our Governance
|
A non-denominational organization, St. John's Community Services holds 501(c)(3) status with the Internal Revenue Service. Today, St. John’s Community Services is comprised of eight separate corporations in five separate states and localities. A volunteer Board of Directors in each jurisdiction provides local support and governance. A Board of Trustees provides oversight for all operations and administrative support to the subsidiary corporations in the five states through contractual agreements. The four in which services are provided are: Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, Pennsylvania, and West Tennessee. The Foundation Board is responsible for the management and expenditures of private contributions and endowment investments. The Founders Board continues the tradition started in 1882 by the Ladies Aid Society of St. John's Episcopal Church. Today, the Founders Board raises funds for women and children supported by SJCS through various fundraising activities.
